I visited China once and there was a university for ethnic minorities in Chengdu.

Is this common around China, where the ethnic minorities often have separate universities?

I also heard that the one-child policy did not apply to many ethnic minority groups...

Anyway, the Han bloodline is biggest, correct? And what are other big ethnic groups in China?

From my understanding the one child policy is much harder to enforce out in the country side, where most of the ethnic minority lives and there are more than 60 different groups.

@aaron its not just in the country side, i was in shenzhen for about a year and i saw a lot of mothers who have like five kids, i asked how come and they tell me they can give birth in HK, which means they kid is a HK national and not china national (i mean mainland) so i guess the policy is just a policy and most dont follow it because they have alternatives....

the Han bloodline is of course the biggest and it contains more than 90% of the whole population. there are all together 56 ethnic groups in China and we respect each other. To control the booming population, we had to use the one-child policy which is effective only to the Han bloodline. Above is what i know.

It is not always the case . For instance ,in our university there are many minorities around us .. Sometimes , the orientation of the university determines the name of a university .I am from Sichuan province ,chengdu is the capital of sichuan

As a matter of fact , Hui, Meng, Zhuang all have a large population in China. And now , more and more communities among our different ethnic groups are showing, especially in southeast of China . If you have a chance go there someday , you will be attracted in their special culture !
