the only best way to learn any foreign language is to live in a country where people talk this language for a while ( I think month or two will be enough). Another really good method is to talk via Skype with your Chinese friend ;-)

Hello, I am from China, my name is Chen Yu Shi, a student at the school. If you want to understand China, you can come to me talk. Also available from the Chinese origin, history, geography, and cultural understanding. To learn Chinese, you need to frequently exchange with people in Chinese and familiar with the pronunciation of each word. I like you, my English is not good. Therefore need to study hard.(你好,我来自中国,我的名字是陈雨诗,是一名在校学生。如果你想了解中国,可以找我聊聊。也可以从中国的起源、历史、地理、文化等方面了解。而学习汉语,则需要经常与人用汉语交流并熟悉每个字的发音。我和你一样,我的英文也不太好。所以需要勤奋学习。

What I'm doing is that I'm reading random stuff online, whether it be blog posts, news, fan sites, forums and it helps a lot. It helps improve the "slang" usage in china because no one really uses formal writing online.

kungfu is regarded as a way of keeping healthy.
it is a common morning exercise for old people in china actually.
it is almost impossible for you to see the kungfu acted on those films.
the kind of kungfu you appreciated is actually art.
they are not the real kungfu.

I use music to help me learn, with Chinese it is particularly helpful due to the tones. I have recorded a few chinese songs.
Actually with my friend we made a funny video. I took a soft chinese song and turned it into a rock song. If you want to see it and have a laugh it is here.
