More information about JuJu's photo policy

We are beginning to enforce our profile photo policy, which is part of our Terms of Use.

The photo policy is simply that users can't upload "fake" photos as their profile image. This includes avatars, cartoons, drawings, or photos of celebrities or other people that are not you!

Instead, we ask users to choose one of the following options:

1) real photo of yourself

2) no photo (empty.. blank)

Why do we ask this? We strongly believe it helps our community maintain a more honest and friendly reputation. It makes users more conscious of how they treat each other, and also scares away scammers and spammers.

We realize that some younger members should keep a certain level of secrecy for their own safety, so we recommend that very young users (13-15 years old) do not upload a real photo of themselves, or at least don't put too much personal information in their profiles.

I hope this helps explain the reasoning behind JuJu's photo policy.

We welcome any feedback, thank you!

JJ

maybe this isn't connected with the topic but i just wanna ask.. why does Juju use 3rd plural personal pronoun instead of 3rd single when someone uploaded new photos? e.g. "---- uploaded new photos to THEIR album : ----"

Because you can only use singular (i.e. "his" or "her") when you know the gender. Since our system can't predict each user's gender, it says "their" which is also considered grammatically correct in English in such a situation.

Update: we have now blocked all photos and images from being scanned or indexed by search engines. So websites like Google Image Search, etc. should not be able to index any photos or images from our website.

We made this decision in order to further protect users' copyrights and personal privacy.

Thanks!

JJ

Users can upload any images they desire, if they have the copyright or are "free for public use" which movie graphics usually are.

Our actions were simply to block search engines from "seeing" any images on JuJu.

For example, if someone visits Google Image Search and types in "people from France" then there will be no photos from JuJu's website showing in those search results.
